Great Smoky Mountains National Park

After eating at all the delicious restaurants in Gatlinburg and visiting all the local attractions, you might think you've done it all, and it’s time to go home. Nope, you've forgot the most important part: The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s the most visited park in the United States with over 9 million people visiting every year.

You might ask, “What can I do in the park?” There are tons of different activities you can do. Cades Cove is a must to see. The eleven mile loop has some of the most astounding scenery in east Tennessee. You can ride your car through or even bike through for a memorable experience. You might think this is short, but you better allow at least two to four hours of your day to spend here.

One of my favorite activities is hiking. With over 800 miles of trails you can spend a few hours exploring or even spend a few days out in the park. Along these hikes you will find historic buildings, hidden waterfalls and if you’re lucky you might even spot a bear. While hiking I would recommend seeing waterfalls like Grotto, Laurel, Abrams and Rainbow, these are the most popular. In between these hikes, you can camp out and even have a picnic. This is probably the most fun for me when I go with my friends and family. We always like to go at least once or twice a year. I assure you will not be disappointed.

  1. Hey Pratik! I really liked your blog. As a former Boy Scout, I enjoy hiking, biking, and camping too! I've actually been to Gatlinburg several times in my life. Just this past summer, I hiked Cades Cove and Abrams falls with my friends. It's actually kind of funny to me because I was standing at the top of the waterfall in your last picture. It is a really cool place! I look forward to reading more of your blogs!

  2. Although the shops and restaurants in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are pretty awesome, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a relaxing getaway. Cades Cove is interesting, but the place I like the best would have to be Metcalf Bottoms. Me and my family used to go there all the time when I was little. We would camp and grill out, and always have a lot of fun. A lot of my childhood memories are there.
